Home Stretch

I am exactly in my mid 20s. I turned 25 last August and...

**This was a draft post which never got a continuation. I am releasing it for public viewing and criticism for the simple reason that there isn't much to criticize, so what the heck?! Or, there is nothing to criticize at all... except the revelation of my age, of course. Which is, also, not foreign to most people i know.

And by the way, the age does not have anything to do with the title ok? You will not know what lies beneath here because the article will remain unfinished. (This is also what's great about being a writer and not being able to finish your piece. The whole world, or at least your readers, will have something to think about that can lead to a lot of other stories...)

The Mayonnaise Jar and the 2 Cups of Coffee

It's a Saturday, and before I left the office and headed home, I received this email story from one of my officemates. You'll know why I liked it. I want to share it with you...

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous "yes."

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

"Now," said the professor as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things-God, your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions-and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car. The sand is everything else-the small stuff."

"If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

"Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first-the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented. The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend."

Now, let's have coffee?
Happy weekend!!!

Blue Sky - Hale

When do stars fade their light?
Does the moon and the sun make it right
For you the world maybe
Like an endless storm chasing a mystery

Is there hate in your heart?
Does your body drop and tell you to stop
Loving you or loving me
When it all falls down you just sing with me

Coz there’s a blue sky waiting tomorrow
Waiting tomorrow shining and shimmering
A blue sky waiting tomorrow
Waiting tomorrow
Maybe it’s all we need

Oh don’t you wash away that smile
You just look out the window and see the light
It’s beautiful to be alive
It’s wonderful to live a life

The sun is sure to shine
For you and me for everyone
So don’t be sad it’s just the start
Of a new beginning in your life

Rain will keep on pouring
Some things you can’t control
And while the sun seems far and hard to hold
It will unfold

There will always be a blue sky
A blue sky waiting tomorrow full of hope
Yeah, full of hope... yeah

Quote #4: Growing up

As we grow up, we learn that even the one person who wasn't supposed to let us down would probably will.

You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it's harder everytime.

You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken.

You'll fight with your bestfriend.

You'll blame a new love for the things the old one did.

You'll cry because time is passing too fast and you'll eventually lose someone you love.

So take many pictures, laugh too much, love like you've never been hurt because every 60 seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll never get back
.

Quote #3: A Prayer for the Stressed

Grant me the serenity to accept the thingsI can't change, the courage to change the things I can't accept, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those I had to kill today because they got in to my nerves. Also help me to be careful of the toes I step today, as they may be connected to the feet I may have to kiss tomorrow. Help me to always work at 100%.

12% on Monday
23% on Tuesday
40% on Wednesday
20% on Thursday
5% on Friday.

And help me to remember, when I am having a bad day and it seems that people are using to wind me up, that it takes 42 muscles to frown, 28 muscles to smile, and only 4 to extend my arm and smack them in the mouth.

Quote #2: Tree

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

"This Christmas, I would like to put up a tree in my heart, and instead of hanging presents, I would like to put the names of all my friends.

Close friends and not so close friends.
The old friends, the new friends.
Those that I see everyday and the ones I rarely see.
The ones that I always remember and the ones that I sometimes forget.
The ones that are always there and the ones that are seldom are.
The friends of difficult times and the ones of happy times.
Friends who, without meaning to, I have hurt, or, without meaning to have hurt me. Those that I know well and those I only know by name.
Those that owe me little and those that I owe so much.
My humble friends and my important friends.
The names of all those that have passed through my life no matter how fleetingly.
A tree with very deep roots and very long and strong branches so that their names may never be plucked from my heart. So that new names from all over may join the existing ones. A tree with very pleasant shade so that our friendship may take a moment of rest from the battles of life. "

"May the happy moments of Christmas brighten every day of the new year."
These are my sincere wishes.
